HALO
in action at Shipyard Marina in Hoboken, NJ
Like
most marinas on the Hudson River, Shipyard Marina in Hoboken,
NJ was slowly being shaken apart by ferry, barge and cruise ship
wakes. Its dock had split, its pilings were disintegrating, and
its boat owners were cancelling their slip reservations.
Although
the marina owners had spent considerable amounts of money installing
a barge as a wave barrier, it was simply not working to prevent
damage or protect boats. To make matters worse, the barge cost
thousands of dollars each year to maintain.
Enter
HALO. The folks at Shipyard needed a 2-row HALO Harbor system
along the north side of their marina, where they were facing direct
exposure to a NY Waterway ferry point. In under one day, HALO
arrived, was put to water, towed to location by a single motorboat
and was deployed alongside existing dock pilings.
Watch
as a ferry wake is broken down between rows of HALO harbor.
